Pacific Ryokan

This student project focused on developing a boutique hotel in San Diego inspired by an international city; I selected Tokyo, Japan. The project included choosing the name and identity for the hotel. Pacific Ryokan pays homage to the fact that the shores of San Diego and Japan are on the Pacific Ocean, and "ryokan" is a traditional Japanese inn. Presented here is the hotel logo, which uses the red circle from the Japanese flag and a wave of the ocean. Included in the branding are 3 pictographs. The look and feel of all 4 images are reminiscent of sumi-e painting, a traditional Japanese art.

Logos

Alpine Automation: In conjunction with the development and deployment of their website, I created the Alpine Automation logo. To accentuate the upward/forward movement and expertise with Integrated Service Management and enterprise infrastructures Alpine Automation brings to their customers, I used a "hidden arrow" using the snow caps and the white space between the mountains. The angles of the A's are also reflected in the angle of the mountains.

San Diego Feeling Good: An annual convention for the LGBT recovery community, San Diego Feeling Good (SDFG) has a new theme and logo each year. Created the corporate logo to improve branding and identity. Designed 2012 - 2016 logos based on annual theme of convention.

Yoga: A logo I designed to convey the peace and vitality one develops through a yoga practice.

Book Cover - Closing Time

The focus of this project from Graphic Design program at San Diego City College was to redesign the book cover of a NY Times Best Seller. Poster Series: Dia De Tus Muertos

Student assignment: Create 4 posters for the Dia De Tus Muertos event; each poster having a different look and feel. Limit use to one or two font faces; black and white. This kind of assignments is exciting because it forces the exploration and use of text, shape and layout as the focal point. While the written message is the same in each poster, the design makes them different and unique.

"Reminder" Postcard Series

"It's been 3 months since your last visit…" What better way to represent back pain than with knots of rope? This unconventional series of reminder postcards was developed for a chiropractor. While each card is unique, the design and style of this series is consistent and distinct, allowing a quick recognition to the sender's business. This witty and unexpected approach is designed to ensure the cards aren't inadvertently discarded as junk-mail, and to leave the receiver wondering what the next one in the series will look like.
